Persistent tendon pain, tight muscles, and overuse injuries can make even simple movement difficult. Shockwave therapy is a noninvasive treatment that delivers controlled acoustic pulses to selected painful tissues. At Synaptic, we use both radial and focused shockwave technologies so treatment can be matched to the location and depth of the problem.
Despite its name, shockwave therapy does not use electricity. A handheld device delivers short pulses of mechanical energy through the skin. These pulses stimulate a local tissue response and may help reduce pain and improve function in certain chronic tendon conditions.
The two approaches are not interchangeable for every condition. The choice depends on the diagnosis, tissue depth, treatment goal, and available evidence.
Shockwave therapy may be considered for persistent plantar heel pain, tennis elbow, Achilles or patellar tendon problems, and selected other tendon conditions—especially when a structured exercise or rehabilitation program alone has not provided enough relief. It is not a treatment for every acute injury, complete tear, or unexplained pain.
Treatment is performed in the office without incisions or injections. Gel is placed on the skin and a handheld applicator delivers pulses to the chosen area. Sessions are usually brief. Patients may feel tapping or temporary discomfort, and mild soreness can follow. A series of visits may be recommended depending on the condition.
Shockwave is most useful when it supports a broader plan that addresses loading, strength, mobility, and the reasons an injury developed. It may be paired with guided exercise, chiropractic treatment, or other targeted interventions when appropriate. Combining shockwave with PRP is being studied; the added benefit is not established for every injury.
“The mission of Synaptic is to help people stay strong, active, healthy, and engaged throughout every stage of life by combining longevity medicine, regenerative therapies, recovery science, and athlete-focused care into one integrated system.”
Whether the goal is optimizing athletic performance, improving recovery, restoring energy, or supporting healthy aging, Synaptic focuses on helping the body function at a higher level for longer. Using modern therapies such as Hormone Replacement Therapy, NAD optimization, Regenerative medicine, Chiropractic body work, PRP, Tenex, EBOO, and advanced recovery modalities, Synaptic is designed to support performance, resilience, recovery, and long-term vitality.
At Synaptic, we choose radial or focused shockwave based on the injury—not a one-size-fits-all protocol. We combine targeted treatment with movement assessment, rehabilitation, and appropriate recovery technologies to help patients return to activity with greater comfort and confidence.
