Focused light for pain management and recovery support

Class IV laser therapy uses a high-powered therapeutic light source applied to selected areas of the body. It is a noninvasive option that may help manage musculoskeletal pain and improve comfort during rehabilitation.

What Is Class IV Laser Therapy?

The device directs specific wavelengths of light into tissue. This approach is often called photobiomodulation. Researchers are studying how light interacts with cellular processes involved in inflammation, pain signaling, and tissue recovery. Class IV refers to the laser’s power and safety classification; it does not guarantee that every condition will respond.

When and Who May Benefit?

Laser therapy may be considered for selected muscle, joint, or tendon pain conditions, including certain back, neck, and shoulder complaints. Evidence is encouraging for some pain and function outcomes, but results depend on the diagnosis and treatment settings.

What to Expect

A clinician moves or positions the laser applicator over the treatment area. Sessions are generally short, noninvasive, and comfortable, although patients may feel warmth. Proper protective eyewear and trained operation are essential because Class IV lasers can injure eyes or skin if misused.

How It Fits Into Recovery

Laser therapy may help patients participate more comfortably in stretching, strength training, and rehabilitation. It is best viewed as a supporting treatment rather than a replacement for correcting weakness, restricted movement, or an underlying injury.

The Synaptic Way

At Synaptic, Class IV laser is one tool within a larger plan. We may combine it with chiropractic care, guided movement, or other recovery treatments when there is a clear reason to do so, with the goal of better function rather than temporary symptom relief alone.
