A Life Shaped by Performance, Service, and Healthcare

As a former NCAA Division 1 athlete and Army veteran who served in Desert Storm, I have spent over 30 years experiencing healthcare systems from multiple perspectives: as an athlete, a provider, and an advocate for patients seeking real answers and meaningful care. Those experiences, combined with earning my bachelor’s degree in Multicultural Healthcare Studies from the University of Utah, shaped my vision for creating a clinic that is not only patient-centered, but truly human-centered.

A Different Philosophy of Care

At Synaptic, patients are not treated like numbers, diagnoses, or insurance claims. They are treated like people. We believe healthcare works best when patients and providers work together as a team, with open communication, trust, and individualized care guiding every step of the process.

Too many patients today feel unheard, rushed through appointments, misdiagnosed, overtreated, or referred from one provider to the next without ever receiving the quality attention they deserve. I have witnessed firsthand how healthcare systems driven by insurance limitations and volume-based care often lose sight of the most important part of treatment—the human being sitting in front of them.

Throughout my career, one thing has remained consistently true: patients achieve better outcomes when they receive genuine, face-to-face, quality time with a provider who truly listens. Human connection matters. Taking the time to understand a patient’s story, goals, lifestyle, and challenges creates more effective treatment plans and better long-term results.

The Foundation of Synaptic

That philosophy became the foundation of Synaptic.

Our clinic was built to create an environment where patients truly come first. We take the time to listen, educate, collaborate, and develop treatment plans tailored specifically to the individual. We also believe in working alongside other providers when it benefits the patient, creating a comprehensive and collaborative approach to care.

These principles have proven successful across all demographics, especially within the athletic community. Too often, athletes are treated with generalized care plans designed for non-athletes, limiting both recovery and performance potential. Whether you are a professional athlete, a weekend warrior, or simply someone who wants to move better, feel better, and live better, Synaptic was created for you.

The Synaptic Philosophy

At Synaptic, chiropractic is viewed as part of a larger, integrated recovery and performance system—not as an isolated treatment. From the chiropractic perspective, the body functions best when movement, nervous system communication, muscular balance, recovery, and cellular health are all working together in coordination. This is where the Synaptic philosophy of synapse and synergy becomes central to our approach.

Chiropractic care is strategically combined with advanced recovery technologies, regenerative therapies, soft tissue treatments, and performance-focused modalities to create a more complete and effective treatment system. By layering therapies together with intention, we aim to improve not only pain and movement, but also recovery capacity, resilience, performance, and long-term physical function.

This philosophy also creates a direct connection between chiropractic and longevity medicine. Maintaining mobility, structural balance, recovery capacity, and efficient movement patterns become increasingly important as the body ages. The same therapies used to help athletes recover, prevent injury, and optimize performance can also help support long-term function, physical independence, and quality of life over time.

By integrating chiropractic with regenerative medicine, recovery science, and longevity-focused therapies, our goal is not simply to help patients feel better temporarily—but to help them continue moving, performing, and functioning at a high level for years to come.

Optimization as a Philosophy

At Synaptic, optimization is more than a goal—it is our philosophy. We focus on optimizing recovery, performance, movement, treatment efficiency, injury prevention, and overall quality of life so every patient can perform at their highest level, both physically and mentally.

We are not just focused on helping people recover.

We are focused on helping people thrive.

Dr Kristine Lukens came to Las Vegas in 1973, has traveled extensively and even lived in California for a period while in Chiropractic school.   She always seems to have come back to Vegas saying, “home is where the heart is”.   She currently is a mom to 3 cats, 1 fish and a 7-year-old Silken Windhound, named Macaroni, who also serves as the Manager at Synaptic.  You can find her most days in the clinic and when she’s in the wild, can be found spending time with her sister or her nephew taking short trips to the beach.  She also has a soft spot for veterans stating, “each and every one is my brother and my sister – always”.
